With SuperNova South only four weeks away, we’re busy preparing to have the best conference yet. As you can imagine, a lot goes into prepping for a SuperNova event like this!

But we aren’t the only ones getting ready. Attendees need to prepare, too.

SuperNova South offers five full days of thought provoking tracks, evening events, keynotes, and exclusive opportunities for both structured and unstructured networking. How do you make the most of these jam packed five days? We’ve got you covered.

Here are four ways to make sure you get the most out of #SNS15.

1) Do Your Research

With eleven tracks and over 100 incredible thought leaders, SuperNova South offers attendees a lot of great information. That being said, make sure you do your research before you hit the conference in October.

Social media your thing? Monday and Tuesday are full of awesome social sessions like Being a Social Superhero, Private is the New Public, and The Immutable Law of Social Media #REALationships.

Are startups your true passion? Thursday is slammed with startup sessions like The Thing No One Tells You as a CEO, The Funny Thing About Startups: How Humor Builds Business, and Starting a Technology Company – By a Non-Tech Founder.

All in all, there are tons of amazing sessions with great speakers. Make sure you do your research ahead of time so you come in prepared!

2) Don’t Try to Visit Every Session

With that said… you can’t hit them all.

I know, I know – it seems counterintuitive. With so much amazing content, why aren’t we telling you to stack up your schedule and get to as many sessions as you can? Because unfortunately, that’s a surefire way to burn out at a conference.

With five days of killer content, there will be plenty of sessions you’ll get to see… and plenty you won’t. That’s okay! The key is to hit the ones that are most important to you and your goals (or your company’s goals). This is where that research in step one really comes in handy.

3) Be Engaged

Going to a conference means getting to connect with industry peers and thought leaders. Take advantage of this opportunity! It’s easy to be glued to your phone or computer in your down time in between sessions – after all, you do have a job outside of SuperNova South! However, resist the urge to check your email every five minutes. Set up an OOTO auto response and designate a time for catching up on email and work. This way, you stay engaged and alert. You never know who you may run into on your way from one session to the next!

4) Make Meaningful Connections

Let’s just clear the air – networking can be tough. It can be awkward and feel fake, but it doesn’t have to! Instead of forcing conversations, focus on making meaningful connections. Be an expert listener, find common ground, and don’t rush a connection. Networking with others should be less about how you can profit, and more about establish a true connection with industry peers.
